उनी दुबईका शासक र संयुक्त अरब इमिरेट्स (युएई)का उपराष्ट्रपतिकी छोरी हुन्। राजकुमारी भएपछि उनले जिन्दगीमा सबै सुख-सयल पाउनु पर्ने हो तर उनी २ वर्षदेखि बन्द कोठा छन्।
दुबईका शासक शेख मोहम्मद बिन रसिद अल मकतुमकी छोरी ३५ वर्षीय लतिफा अल मकतुमले सन २०१८मा दुबईबाट भाग्न कोशिश गरेकी थिइन्। यसरी देश छोड्न प्रयास गर्ने उनी मुकतमकी दोस्रो सन्तान हुन्। ६ जना श्रीमतीबाट मुक्तमका ३० छोराछोरी भएको बताइन्छ।
बाहिर जाने, घुम्ने, गाडी चलाउने, पढ्ने चाहनाले आफू विदेश जान लागेको लतिफाले बताएकी थिइन्। देशबाट भाग्न निकै गाह्रो भएकाले उनले आफ्ना मार्सल आर्ट्स प्रशिक्षकको सहारा लिएकी थिइन्। जनवरी २०१८मा उनीहरू दुबईबाट डुंगामा भागेका थिए। अमेरिकामा गएर राजनीतिक शरण माग्ने लतिफाको योजना थियो।
आठ दिनपछि उनीहरू चढेको डुंगा भारतको नजिक आएको थियो। त्यही बेला उनीहरूलाई कमाण्डोले पक्राउ गरेका थिए। पक्राउ परेपछि लतिफालाई विद्युतीय झड्का दिइएको थियो र उनी बेहोस भएपछि निजी जहाजमा राखेर दुबई लगिएको थियो। उनलाई पक्रनमा भारत सरकारको के भूमिका थियो भन्नेबारे अहिलेसम्म नयाँदिल्लीले कुनै प्रतिक्रिया दिएको छैन।
दुबई लगिएपछि डुंगामा रहेका अरूलाई दुई सातापछि छोडिएको थियो तर लतिफालाई भने एउटा भिल्लामा राखिएको थियो ।
त्यसपछि लतिफाले आफ्ना साथीहरूलाई एउटा भिडिओ सन्देश पठाएर आफूलाई बाबुले बन्धक बनाएको आरोप लगाएकी थिइन्। उनकी साथीले लतिफाको रिहाइका लागि संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघमा अपिल गरेपछि उनको जीवनबारे अन्तर्राष्ट्रिय समुदायले चासो देखाएको थियो।
दुबईका शासक मुकतमले भने उनी परिवारको हेरचाहमा सुरक्षित रहेको बताएको थियो।
त्यसपछि लतिफाको अवस्थाबारे सार्वजनिक गरिएको थिएन।
लतिफाले आफूलाई राखिएको ठाउँभित्र बनाएका भिडिओ बिबिसी पानोरोमाले प्राप्त गरेको थियो र ती भिडिओ मंगलबार प्रसारण भएका थिए।
भिडिओमा लतिफाले भिलालाई जेल बनाइएको र चौबिसै घन्टा प्रहरी तैनाथ गरिएको बताएकी छन्। उनले भिडिओहरू बाथरूम भित्र रेकर्ड गरेको उल्लेख गरेकी छन्।
‘मैले बाथरूममा यो भिडिओ बनाइरहेकी छु किनकी यहाँमात्र म ढोका लगाएर बस्न सक्छु। म बन्धक बनाइएकी छु। स्वतन्त्र छैन। यो जेलकी कैदी हुँ। मेरो जीवन मेरो हातमा छैन,’ उनले भनेकी छन्।
प्रहरीहरूले आफूलाई जिन्दगीभर यहीँ बस्ने पर्ने भनेको उनले बताएकी छन्। ‘मलाई थाहा छैन। अब मैले फेरि सूर्य देख्न पाउँछु कि पाउँदिनँ,’ लतिफाले भिडिओमा भनेकी छन्।
७१ वर्षीय मुकतम संसारका अर्बपति शासकहरूमध्ये पर्छन्। उनको सम्पत्ति ४ अर्ब अमेरिकी डलर छ। संसारकै सबैभन्दा अग्लो भवन बुर्ज खालिफा उनैले बनाउन लगाएका थिए। उनका दुबई होल्डिङलगायत कम्पनीहरू छन्।
दुबईले भौतिक विकासको शिखर चुमे पनि त्यहाँका महिलाहरूले भने नैसर्गिक अधिकार पनि उपभोग गर्न पाएका छैनन्। यसअघि मुकतमकी श्रीमती हाया आफ्ना दुई सन्तानसहित भागेर बेलायत पुगेकी थिइन्।
