ऐतिहासिक सिन्धुलीगढीमा युद्ध संग्रहालय निर्माण कार्य अन्तिम चरणमा पुगेको छ। गत वर्ष तत्कालीन रक्षामन्त्री ईश्वर पोखरलले २५२औं विजय उत्सव समारोहबीच शिल्यान्यास गरेसँगै युद्ध संग्रहालयको निर्माणले तीव्रता पाएको थियो। भवन निर्माण तथा संरचनाको काम ९९ प्रतिशत पूरा भइसकेको सिन्धुलीस्थित बर्दबहादुर गणका गणपति विजय थापाले जानकारी दिए।
करिब ४ करोड ५० लाख बजेटमा युद्ध संग्रहालय निर्माण भएको बर्दबहादुर गणले जनाएको छ। १८२४ सालमा इस्ट इन्डिया कम्पनीको सेनालाई पराजित गरी ऐतिहासिक गरिमा कायम गरेको सिन्धुलीगढी किल्लामा नेपाली सेनाले युद्ध संग्रहालय बनाई ऐतिहासिकताको झल्को दिनेगरी संग्रहालय बनाएको हो। संग्रहालयमा नेपालको रक्षार्थ वीर पुर्खाहरूले युद्धमा प्रयोग गरेका सबैखाले हतियार तथा अन्य सामग्री रहने गणपति थापाले बताए।
‘इतिहासको जगेर्ना गर्दै युवा पुस्तालाई इतिहासको महŒव बुझाउन सिन्धुलीगढीमा युद्ध संग्रहालयले महŒवपूर्ण भुमिका खेल्नेछ,’ उनले भने, ‘युद्ध संग्रहालयको आन्तरिक सजावटका लागि विभिन्न चरणमा गोष्ठी तथा छलफल भइरहेका छन्।’ संरचना निर्माण कार्य सम्पन्न भइसकेको तर सरसफाइलगायत केही काम मात्र बाँकी रहेको उनले बताए। अब सजावटको काम पनि चाँडै पूरा हुने विश्वास उनले व्यक्त गरे। उनले नेपाली सेनासँग युद्ध संग्रहालयमा राख्न मिल्ने पुराना सामग्री भएको र त्यसको छनोट प्रक्रिया चलिरहेको पनि जानकारी दिए। ऐतिहासिकता झल्किनेगरी युद्ध संग्रहालयमा के–कसरी सजाउन सकिन्छ भनेर राष्ट्रिय युद्ध संग्रहालयले पनि सजावट सामग्री विवरण तयार पारिरहेको सेनाले जनाएको छ।
नेपाल एकीकरणका बेला आधुनिक हतियारले सुसज्जित अंग्रेज फौजलाई हराएर बिरासत कायम गरेको सिन्धुलीगढीमा युद्धमा प्रयोग भएका हतियार भए उपलब्ध गराइदिन सेनाले स्थानीयलाई अनुरोध गरेको छ। नेपाल एकीकरणका बेला १८२४ असोज १५ गते सिन्धुलीगढीको युद्धमा काठमाडौ कब्जा गर्न इस्ट इन्डिया कम्पनीका कप्तान किनलोकको नेतृत्वमा आएको आधुनिक हतियारले सुसज्जित अंग्रेज सेनालाई वंशु गुरुङ नेतृत्वको गोर्खाली सेनाले पराजित गरेको इतिहास सिन्धुलीगढीले बोकेको छ। सिन्धुलीगढीलाई अन्तर्राष्ट्रिस्तरमा चिनाई पर्यटकीय क्षेत्रका रूपमा विकास गर्न बर्सेनि सिन्धुलीगढी विजय उत्सवसमेत मनाइँदै आएको छ।
सिन्धुलीगढीका अनुसन्धानकर्ता सागरकुमार ढकाल भने १८२४ कात्तिक २४ गते इस्ट इन्डिया कम्पनीका कप्तान किनलोकको नेतृत्वमा आएको २ हजार ४ सय अंग्रेज सेनाको फौजलाई राजा पृथ्वीनारायण शाह फौजमा संलग्न वंशु गुरुङको नेतृत्वको नेपाली सेनाले सिन्धुलीगढीबाट पराजित गरी भगाएको इतिहास रहेको बताउँछन्। त्यतिबेला झन्डै १ हजार ६ सय अंग्रेज सेना हताहत भएको उनी बताउँछन्। अंग्रेजविरुद्धको यो जित दक्षिण एसियाकै इतिहासमा पहिलो थियो भने अंग्रेजको पहिलो पराजय पनि यही सिन्धुलीगढीबाटै सुरु भएको थियो। १३६७ सालमा सिम्रौनगढका (डोयहरू) सेनाहरूले काठमाडौंमा व्यापक लुटपाट गरी बनेपा हुँदै फर्किंदा सिन्धुलीगढीको बाटो भएर विदेह राज्य (जनकपुर–सितामाढी) फर्किएका थिए भन्ने ऐतिहासिक प्रमाण भएको खोजकर्ताहरूले दाबी गरेका छन्।
