भद्रपुर २३ साउन / नेपाली क्रिकेट टोलीको मुख्य प्रशिक्षकमा भारतका मनोज प्रभाकर नियुक्त भएका छन् । भारतीय टोलीका पूर्वअलराउन्डरसमेत रहेका ५९ वर्षीय प्रभाकरलाई नेपाल क्रिकेट संघ(क्यान) ले सोमबार मुख्य प्रशिक्षकमा नियुक्त गरेको हो ।
प्रभाकरले भारतका लागि ३९ टेस्ट र १३० एकदिवसीय खेल खेलेका थिए । यसअघि उनी अफगानिस्तान क्रिकेट टिममा प्रशिक्षकको जिम्मेवारी सम्हालेका थिए । त्यस्तै उनी रणजी ट्रफीमा दिल्ली, राजस्थान र उत्तर प्रदेश टिमको पनि प्रशिक्षक थिए ।
यसअघि नेपालका पुबुदु दासानायकले बीचमै छोडेपछि मुख्य प्रशिक्षक पद रिक्त रहेको थियो ।
प्रभाकर सन् १९९९ मा खेल मिलेमतोको विवादमा मुछिएका थिए । उनलाई बीसीसीआईले भारतीय टिममा खेल्न प्रतिबन्धसमेत लगाएको थियो । त्यस्तै खेलाडी र छनोटकर्ताका बारेमा सार्वजनिक रूपमै आलोचना गरेपछि उनलाई दिल्ली क्रिकेट टिमले पनि प्रशिक्षकबाट हटाएको थियो ।
प्रभाकर क्रिकेटबाट भारतीय राजनीतिमा प्रवेश गर्न खोजे पनि असफल भएका पात्रसमेत हुन् । उनी सन् १९९६ मा लोकसभा चुनावमा दक्षिण दिल्लीबाट कांग्रेसबाट उम्मेदवारी दिएका थिए । तर उनी पराजित भएका थिए । उनी सन् २०१५ मा अफगानिस्तान क्रिकेट टिमको बलिङ प्रशिक्षक भएका थिए । उनकै प्रशिक्षणमा अफगानिस्तानले सन् २०१६ मा भारतमा भएको ट्वान्टी-२० विश्वकप खेलेको थियो ।
पूर्व भारतीय क्रिकेटर उहाँ एक दाहिने हाते मध्यम-गति बलर र एक तल्लो-अर्डर ब्याट्सम्यान थिए र 1996 मा आफ्नो सेवानिवृत्ति सम्म भारतीय क्रिकेट टोलीको लागि कहिले काँही इनिङ खोलेका थिए।

“No thanks Lin just a pot of Jasmine tea for us please.” Lin went back to the kitchen area. “No booze for me today as I will have to work in the bar so it is just tea for me.”
Not in a drinking mood either, I agreed with her.”
